About us

We started out as an online greeting card company in 1999. Named Ain't That Thum'-Thin, we were a small but solid little online store that was the perfect side job that stoked the owners creative side without becoming all consuming. In 2006 a local businessperson with a vacant commercial space in downtown Spokane approached the owner with a great suggestion. It was a timely offer, for the owner and other members of the business had been secretly planning on opening an art gallery. One month later the store opened on June 24, 2006.

While the store was in its infancy we were encouraged to change the name. All parties got their heads together and while trying to honor the original name, came up with Gallery of Thum', a part of the name idea came from the artistic sense of holding ones thumb out while capturing the size of the model while painting but it was chosen because it was an acronym for the future plans for the store. A family member felt that a transition period was necessary as we found a footprint in Spokane's business scene, and felt the four letters as an acronym would begin to translate while the company grew into its business plan. The name was an asset from the beginning. Join us when you are near. Shop while you are online here.

The recent economic crisis affected everyone, but at the store it was anticipated. The store opened during the early warnings of the crisis and was prepared in its business plan to take the next step and to slowly thrive as we carefully grew. In the midst of the doom and gloom we took the next step and the store evolved from a strict 2D art gallery to what it is today. We are anticipating our next transition in our business plan and are excited by the possibilities.
